NFL Week 12 predictions by Microsoft Copilot AI for every game

Another week, another solid showing from Microsoft Copilot AI as it picks the result of every NFL game for the 2025 season.

Copilot posted a 12-3 record overall in Week 11. Its three losses came from backing the Atlanta Falcons to beat the Carolina Panthers, choosing the Los Angeles Chargers over the Jacksonville Jaguars, and picking the Kansas City Chiefs to earn a win in a critical AFC West battle against the Denver Broncos.

Copilot's slip-ups were certainly understandable, and the chatbot deserves credit for picking the Chicago Bears to beat the Minnesota Vikings on the road in a minor upset against the spread.

Per usual, the process of gathering Copilot's picks was simple. The AI chatbot was prompted to pick a winner and provide a score for each of the NFL's Week 12 matchups. The query used to generate the results was as follows

Can you predict the winner and the score of the Houston Texans vs. Buffalo Bills NFL Week 12 game?

The prompt was then repeated across all 14 of the NFL's Week 12 matchups, with the proper matchup swapped in for each additional query.

Copilot mostly interpreted the prompts without issue. However, the chatbot occasionally provided outdated or incorrect information, especially regarding injuries across the NFL. This was not a major surprise, as some Large Language Models (LLMs) struggle to keep up with the latest sports news and updates.

Copilot was simply prompted to fix these mistakes and reassess the prompt when errors occurred.

Below is a summation of Copilot's picks for Week 12, along with a brief, human-crafted analysis of each of the chatbot's answers.

NFL Week 12 picks: AI predicts scores for every game

  • Copilot's Week 11 results: 12-3
  • Copilot's 2025 season record: 109-54-1

Buffalo Bills 24, Houston Texans 17

AI's take: Copilot praised Houston's "elite defense" but opined that Buffalo's offense is "explosive enough" to break through it. The chatbot also praised Josh Allen for demonstrating "MVP form" in recent weeks while expressing concerns about Davis Mills going blow-for-blow with the Bills star.

Our take: Mills has led the Texans to back-to-back wins, but Copilot is right. Houston's offense scored just 16 points against the Titans last week, so it's hard to imagine them faring significantly better against a Bills team that averages the second-highest time of possession per game this season (32:22).

Chicago Bears 23, Pittsburgh Steelers 20

AI's take: Copilot is buying into the Bears amid the team's three-game winning streak. It cited the "steady" performance of Caleb Williams during that stretch as a positive development while crediting Ben Johnson with crafting a "balanced offense" in his first season as the team's coach. Copilot also believes Aaron Rodgers will sit out this game while nursing a small fracture in his wrist.

Our take: The Steelers' defense finally showed signs of life against the Bengals in Week 12. If Pittsburgh's stop unit can continue to play consistently, the Steelers may have a chance to upset the Bears on the road. Either way, this game figures to be close, whether Rodgers or Mason Rudolph is at quarterback.

New England Patriots 31, Cincinnati Bengals 17

AI's take: Copilot doesn't have any interest in backing a Bengals defense that has been "historically bad" against a Patriots team playing well across the board. The chatbot noted the Patriots are in the midst of a league-best eight-game winning streak and remain 5-0 on the road, giving them the edge in this contest.

Our take: The Patriots may get running back Rhamondre Stevenson and wide receiver Kayshon Boutte back for this game. Meanwhile, the Bengals are set to be without the suspended Ja'Marr Chase, making this a massive mismatch for a Cincinnati team that is set to play on Thanksgiving night in Week 13.

Detroit Lions 34, New York Giants 17

AI's takeDavid Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs have a great matchup against the Giants, in Copilot's estimation. New York's "porous" run defense is allowing a league-high 5.5 yards per carry, so Detroit's offense "matches up perfectly" to take advantage of that weakness. Copilot is also assuming Jameis Winston will start this game as Jaxson Dart remains in the NFL's concussion protocol.

Our take: Perhaps the Giants can score a bit more frequently if Dart can return at quarterback. Either way, Copilot is on the right track with this pick, as the Lions will be extra motivated to get back in the playoff race after a disappointing offensive showing in a 16-9 Week 11 loss to the Eagles.

Green Bay Packers 23, Minnesota Vikings 16

AI's takeJ.J. McCarthy hasn't yet shown enough for Copilot to believe him. The chatbot noted the first-year starter has "struggles against pressure" and could have trouble playing in a tough visiting environment at Lambeau Field. That led Copilot to side with the Packers, despite being discouraged by the team's recent offensive downturn.

Our takeJosh Jacobs may not play in Week 12 because of a knee injury. If he's out, the Packers will be without two of their top offensive weapons, as Tucker Kraft (torn ACL) is out for the season. Green Bay can still win without that duo, but Jordan Love would have to step up in addition to the defense to secure a victory.

Seattle Seahawks 27, Tennessee Titans 13

AI's take: Copilot is expecting a bounce back from the Seahawks, as it thinks Sam Darnold and Co. will have more success against a "bottom-tier" Titans defense than they did against the Rams. The chatbot also believes the Seahawks will be able to pressure Cam Ward often and force him into mistakes.

Our take: Ward has been sacked a league-high 41 times this season while Seattle's pressure rate ranks fourth in the league, per the NFL's Next Gen Stats. It's hard to back Ward in such a difficult matchup.

Kansas City Chiefs 27, Indianapolis Colts 24

AI's take: If there's one word to describe why Copilot is backing the Chiefs, it's "urgency." It noted Kansas City's back-to-back losses have presently dropped it out of the playoff race, but believes Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid's squad will use its home-field advantage to win a tightly contested "shootout."

Our take: The Colts added Sauce Gardner to their already strong defense before their Week 11 bye. Indianapolis will be well-rested, while Kansas City will be returning from a game at altitude in Denver. That rest advantage, plus Jonathan Taylor's matchup against a middling Chiefs run defense, could allow the Colts to continue the Chiefs' losing streak in what profiles as a coin-toss game.

Baltimore Ravens 31, New York Jets 17

AI's take: Copilot likes Baltimore's "elite rushing game" and noted the Ravens have been significantly better offensively with Lamar Jackson at quarterback. It also doesn't believe Tyrod Taylor being installed as the team's starter will fundamentally change an offense that "lacks weapons."

Our take: The Ravens have won four consecutive games since getting healthy during their Week 7 bye. There's no reason to expect that to change against the Jets.

Las Vegas Raiders 20, Cleveland Browns 16

AI's take: Copilot isn't willing to back Shedeur Sanders as a starter after he "struggled mightily in his debut" against the Ravens. The chatbot is expecting a low-scoring game but opined Geno Smith would give the Raiders "slightly better" quarterback play than the Browns.

Our take: Sanders faced a tough task in his debut, taking over at halftime against a top-tier Ravens defense. He may have struggled, but he should have a better chance to perform well with a full week of preparation against a weak Raiders defense. Add in that the best unit in this game is the Browns' defense and Cleveland has a path to victory in this one.

Jacksonville Jaguars 28, Arizona Cardinals 23

AI's take: Copilot had to be reminded Jacoby Brissett was starting over Kyler Murray but praised Brissett for his performance in relief of the injured Cardinals starter. While the chatbot believes Brissett will keep the Cardinals "competitive," it also stated Jacksonville's "run game and opportunistic defense" would give the Jaguars an advantage in this game.

Our take: The Jaguars just limited the Chargers to six points in a Week 11 blowout. They may be able to do the same to a Cardinals offense that has struggled to find a consistent running game without James Conner and Trey Benson.

Philadelphia Eagles 27, Dallas Cowboys 23

AI's take: Copilot criticized the recent performance of the Eagles' offense, noting it has recently "sputtered." It particularly took aim at Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley's struggles, but still believes the Eagles can win with their "championship-level" defense and advantage in the trenches.

Our take: Look, it's just one game against a weak opponent, but Dallas' new-look defense looked great against the Raiders. If Quinnen WilliamsDeMarvion Overshown and the other recent Cowboys additions can play well against the Eagles, they could end up pulling off the upset. Dak Prescott and the offense are playing well, so this could be a sneaky tough matchup for Philadelphia.

Atlanta Falcons 20, New Orleans Saints 17

AI's take: No Michael Penix Jr. and Drake London, no problem for the Falcons. Copilot is confident Kirk Cousins can lead a competent offensive attack in place of Atlanta's injured starter and expects the team to rely on "offensive centerpiece" Bijan Robinson to carry it to victory.

Our take: The Saints' offense may be "inconsistent," as Copilot notes, but Tyler Shough looked good in the team's pre-bye win over the Panthers. He might be able to will New Orleans to a win in this one, especially with Cousins (73.4 passer rating) looking like a shell of his former self.

Los Angeles Rams 30, Tampa Bay Buccaneers 23

AI's take: Copilot has been impressed by "MVP frontrunner" Matthew Stafford and believes the Rams will move the ball well against a Buccaneers defense that has surrendered a total of 72 points across its back-to-back losses. The chatbot believes Tampa Bay's defensive decline, along with the team's injuries, will keep it from pulling off an upset over the NFC West's top dog.

Our take: Perhaps if Bucky Irving and Chris Godwin can suit up, the Buccaneers will have a better chance of winning in a shootout. That said, the Rams are presently the more complete team, so Copilot appears to be on the right side of this one.

San Francisco 49ers 27, Carolina Panthers 23

AI's take: Copilot seemed reluctant to back the Panthers, noting the team's inability to generate pressure as an obstacle it will need to overcome while facing Bryce Young. Ultimately, the chatbot sided with San Francisco, given its positive view of "Brock Purdy’s efficiency and Kyle Shanahan’s play-calling."

Our take: Young may be coming off a career-best game against the Falcons (448 passing yards, three touchdowns), but he hadn't eclipsed 200 passing yards in a game since Week 2 before that. So long as the 49ers can contain Rico Dowdle and force Young to beat them through the air, they should hold the advantage in this matchup.
