On a day Texas A&M football reportedly is in the process of locking up head coach Mike Elko with a multi-year extension, the Aggies made SEC history
Behind a valiant second-half effort, the third-ranked Aggies (No. 3 in CFP) overcame a 27-point halftime deficit to defeat unranked South Carolina 31-30 at Kyle Field in College Station on Saturday, Nov. 15.
Texas A&M remains unbeaten and has not lost since the SRS Distribution Las Vegas Bowl against USC in December of last season.
The Gamecocks entered the day with a 1-6 record in SEC play, but gave the Aggies all they could handle.
The Aggies responded with an explosive third-quarter performance with three touchdowns: A 27-yard pass from Marcel Reed to Izaiah Williams, a wide-open 39-yard pass to Ashton Bethel-Roman and a 14-yard pass to Nate Boerkircher — to make it a one-score game before the fourth quarter. They took the lead on an E.J. Smith 4-yard touchdown run with 10:47 left in the game that would end up being the final score.
