Attorney General Pam Bondi on Saturday announced a suspect is in custody following an attack this week on acting U.S. Attorney Alina Habba’s office in Newark, New Jersey.
Keith Michael Lisa, a 51-year-old man from California, allegedly had a bat with him when he first attempted to go into the Peter W. Rodino Federal Building on Wednesday, but upon being denied entry, he discarded the bat, returned, and proceeded to cause the alleged damage, according to a poster that was circulated by the FBI prior to his apprehension.
While the FBI poster did not explicitly state that Lisa was accused of damaging property in Habba’s office, FBI Director Kash Patel on Saturday reposted a Fox News video on X linking Lisa to the attack on Habba’s office.
“All we are doing is serving our country. All we are doing is fighting, and the Department of Justice is going to continue to fight for justice. It won’t deter us,” she said.
The FBI had offered a $25,000 reward for information leading to his arrest and conviction. The bureau’s Newark office disclosed his capture on social media Saturday.
“No one will get away with threatening or intimidating our great US Attorneys or the destruction of their offices,” Bondi wrote in a post on X.
The Department of Justice did not immediately respond to a request for additional information from POLITICO.
